Noel is survived by her sister, Joanne Poore of Texas; three children, Matthew, Jennifer, and Mark; three grandchildren, Rachel, Luke, and Markus.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary; beloved mother and father, Gladys and Ernest; beloved brother, Damon; beloved sister, Bonnie (Bloom); and beloved sister, Betty (Varner).
She was born in Breckinridge, Minnesota on December 25, 1942. She was a Christmas baby, as was her mother. They used to say, “A Christmas baby born her mother’s birthday.”
Her family moved to Carlsbad, California when she was two, where Carol became a member of the first graduating class of Carlsbad High School in 1960.
She married Gary Don Helton in 1963 and worked for the City of Carlsbad (naming a few streets after her family) before moving on to Burroughs, (which became, Unisys). During that time, she was a softball, and soccer mom, running her family all over Southern California for games and tournaments. She was an “other mom” to many of her children’s friends. She always had a smile on her face and was always willing to help during the hardest of times.
She lived and worked in Carlsbad, and also worked in Rancho Bernardo. In 1985, the Old Burroughs CEPO plant closed, and she went to work at the Unisys Rancho Bernardo facility until its closure in 1991.
A visit to Eureka Springs, Arkansas would lead to the family moving to Rogers, Arkansas later that summer. There, she worked for Foam Molding Company in Rogers and Kawneer in Springdale, always keeping herself busy and working hard to support her family.
Noel retired from Kawneer in 2011 to focus on her family. She loved to watch the seasons change in Northwest Arkansas, looking forward to the fall colors and Spring planting. Roses were a longtime passion.
Because of her love for roses, the family asks that a rose bush be planted in her honor.
She will be cremated and her ashes joined with her husband, Gary’s, then scattered together, so that they may be a part of and present for each other forever.
