

Cecil Thomas Bridgers, 61, of Rogers passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 while at his favorite place – the White River below Bull Shoals Dam. Cecil was born to Reginald and Anna Mae Bridgers on February 4, 1949 in Yazoo City, MS. He was the youngest of 5 children and spent his childhood in Belzoni, MS where he grew up with his future wife, Gwen Pearson. They started dating in junior high and knew from a young age that they would marry.
Cecil and Gwen moved to Rogers in 1974 there they raised their family. He initially owned a car dealership and later was a partner in Rogers Insurance Agency. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, an avid golfer, and loved spending time outdoors at their cabin on the White River. He also loved entertaining his many friends and spending time with his beloved granddaughters.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bruce and Buddy.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 40 years, Gwen; two sons, Chad Bridgers and his wife Lisa of Springdale and Brad Bridgers and his wife Jann of Rogers; two granddaughters, Caroline and Emily; one brother, Charles Bridgers and his wife Sara of Cordova, TN; one sister, Margret Ann Burnett of Memphis, TN; one sister-in-law, Dottie Bridger of Isola, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Cecil will be from 5-7pm Monday, May 24, 2010 at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers. Burial will be at 10am Tuesday, May 25 at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers, with services to follow at 11am at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers.
Pall bearers for Cecil will be Stewart Baguley, Roland Julian, Jack McHaney, Lewis Yarborough, Clayton Eversole, Kent Rylee, Mike Long, Dr. Gary Neaville, and Bob Bedard. Honorary pall bearers will be all of Cecil’s nephews.
God has gained a very special angel and we have lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather (Da), brother, relative, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church (2535 W New Hope Rd. Rogers, AR 72758), Ryan Murphy Cancer Fund (P.O. Box 2048 Rogers, AR 72758), or the Ozark Natural Science Center (1905 Madison Rd suite 1305 Huntsville, AR 72740).
