Charlie is survived by his wife, Constance “Connie” Schwarz, and their son, Charles “Chip” Schwarz III. Charlie and Connie were married September 10, 1966. Their son Chip was born in London, England, on November 2, 1970.
Charlie graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1957 and attended Kansas State University. After two years he joined the U.S. Air Force, intending a four-year enlistment that became a 20-year career as an intelligence analyst. His service took him to San Angelo, Texas; Karamürsel, Turkey; Anchorage, Alaska; the National Security Agency in Washington, D.C.; Ton Son Nhut Air Base in Saigon; Chicksands, England; and back to San Angelo. He retired from the Air Force in 1980.
Following military service, Charlie worked in retail management for J.C. Penney. In 1987 he graduated cum laude from Angelo State University with a degree in Finance. He later worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange System in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and Phoenix before retiring in August 2000.
An outdoorsman his entire life, Charlie loved hiking, hunting (deer, pheasant, quail, ducks, geese, and rattlesnakes), and fishing lakes, rivers, creeks, and ponds. In retirement in Northwest Arkansas he enjoyed living and fishing on Beaver Lake. He also pitched fast-pitch softball, coached and refereed soccer, prospected for gold, and collected firearms.
Charlie often said he had done what he wanted in life and was ready to go when the Lord called. Per his wishes, he will be cremated with no public services.
