Larry Lee Beenken

Larry Beenken, age 80, of Rogers passed away on November 18, 2021 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born in Grundy Center, Iowa on May 16, 1941 to Charles and Henrietta (Korthaus) Beenken.

He moved to Rogers from Iowa in 1985 and retired from Pratt Whitney in Springdale in 2002. He was employed in Grundy Center by Northwest Plastics for 17 years, John Deere in Waterloo for 7 years, had his own semi and did over the road trucking for a year, then worked at Quality Products in Eldora, before moving to Rogers.

Larry had many interests. Early on, in his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, motorcycles, snowmobiles, working on a stock car for a friend, and being in a Country band called the Occasionals for 2 years. He also loved camping.

His true love was his wife and family, which included his beloved dog, Annie, a poodle of course. His precious Miss Hershey Kiss passed before he did.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Lori Lee; and brother, Charles Beenken, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Shari of 60 years; son, Dan Beenken of Rogers; daughter, Kim Curren (Doug) of Grundy Center, Iowa; grandchildren, Josh Beenken (Katie) of Belton, Missouri, Jessica Clark (John) Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Jordan Curren (Jenn) of Grundy Center, Iowa; brother, Ron Beenken (Linda) of Sheldon, Iowa; two sister, Shirley Owings of Bella Vista, and Jo Dostal of Crystal River, Florida; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He certainly was loved and will be missed by all his family and friends.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Circle of Life Chapel Legacy Village in Bentonville with Chaplain Jim Moore officiating.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Raja at Mercy Hospital for his concern and compassion for Larry and I during Larry’s stay in the hospital from November 5th to the 17th. Also, Rollins Funeral Home and Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village for their care and compassion, and for Downtown Church of Christ for bringing food to the house after the service.
