While attending Louisiana State University, Sarah met her future husband, Ben McBride. The two married in 1961, and they spent many wonderful years of marriage together. After graduating from LSU, she began a teaching career that lasted her 40 years. The position brought her to Northwest Arkansas in 1976. She retired in 2001 after educating over 1,000 children, most of them kindergarteners. She left a lasting impact on the many students that she taught throughout the years, and she had an incredible aptitude for teaching. While she always found time for a little travel, an interesting book, or a robust vegetable garden, her true passion was helping animals. Sarah volunteered for many years at the NWA Humane Society for Animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Pearl Kline; two brothers, Cecil and Joe Kline; as well as her husband, Ben McBride.
She is survived by her son, William McBride, and his wife, Kate. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 19th at Grace United Methodist Church in Rogers, Arkansas at 2:00PM.
