
He is the son of Jim and Karen McKay, and the brother of Jennifer McKay and Heather McKay Schraeder. Collin will be remembered as a free-spirited and joyous person who was loved by everyone he met.
Collin was a 1993 graduate of Darlington School. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. Collin then received his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia in 2000. After law school, Collin enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany for his 4 years of service. Collin served in Kosovo and then in Iraq. He received numerous medals during his service. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 2005, Collin moved to Jefferson City, Missouri, where he worked for State Farm. In late 2013, Collin transferred to Long Beach, California.
In addition to the relatives named above, Collin is survived by his former spouse, Dana Glauner of Monroe, North Carolina; grandmother, Marjorie McKay of Ashville, North Carolina; and two nephews, Allen and Charles Schraeder of New Braunfels, Texas. He leaves several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and an enormous number of friends from all around the country and the world. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Cameron McKay, and grandparents, Charles and Hazel Armbruster of Cincinnati, Ohio and James Kelly McKay of Birmingham, Alabama.
Collin will be missed by all whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to K9s for Warriors, a program that provides service dogs to veterans dealing with PTSD. A Celebration of Collin’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 12 from 12-4 at Harvest Moon in Rome, GA.
