
Mrs. Winn was born on April 27, 1959, the daughter of Marilyn Morgan Montgomery and the late Julian Montgomery. Mrs. Winn, who attended Floyd College and the University of Georgia, was a full time homemaker and volunteer at Cave Spring Elementary School, where her daughter, Kathleen, is a student. She was an avid gardener and a member of the State of Georgia and Floyd County Master Gardener organizations. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rome.
Mrs. Winn was preceded in death by her father, Julian M. Montgomery. She is survived by her husband, Walter Welborn Winn, to whom she was married November 23, 1991, and daughter, Kathleen, Cave Spring; her parents, Marilyn Morgan Montgomery of Rome, and Walter and Linda Winn of Lexington, NC; her sister, Jane Montgomery Wood, brother-in-law, David Wood, and nephew, Michael David Wood, of Cumming, and a niece, Catherine Morgan Wood of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 3 p.m. in the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Gil Watson, senior minister at Northside United Methodist Church in Atlanta, officiating. Interment will follow in the Cave Spring Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Wood, Michael David Wood, Patrick Anderson, Charles Bagwell, Irwin Bagwell and Monty Montgomery.
The family received friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, from 5 until 7 p.m., and at other hours is at the residence of her mother, Marilyn Montgomery, 91 Cunningham Rd. SW.
