Ernie Jeffrey (Jeff) Boswell, 76, of Rome passed away peacefully Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Floyd Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. He was lovingly attended by his niece, Stacy Cates. He was the youngest of three children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Shirley Boswell and his sister, Paula Boswell Carter. He is survived by his sister Nancy Boswell Bell and nieces Stacy Cates, Lora Lee Bell, Dee Anna Rittenhouse and Julie Elrod along with three great nieces, two great nephews and three great-great nieces. He also leaves behind his beloved cats, Blackie and Mittie Belle.
Jeff was a lifelong resident of Rome. He served in active duty in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves. He also worked at Bekaert Steel and UPS. He was a kind-hearted man who loved to entertain people with his storytelling most often over a good cup of Waffle House or Dunkin Donuts coffee. He loved Elvis, Sunday School, making breakfast in his Mother's prized cast iron skillet and helping others in need. He rescued many feral cats throughout his life, gave them vet care and domesticated them with his gentle touch. He was also passionate about gardening and skilled in photography, especially capturing photos of nature.
A graveside service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, Aug 6, 2022 at 11:00 am at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Reverend Frank Wood will be officiating. Pallbearers serving the family will be Charles Duke, Gene Duke, Champ Rittenhouse and Jesse Luke Elrod. Daniel’s Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
