Frances Buckley Evlyn Hobdy

She was the daughter of the late Ellis C. Buckley and Lila Williams Buckley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother Ellis Harrell Buckley.

She was married to the late James Thomas Hobdy. A resident of Rome and Floyd County, Frances was a member of First Baptist Church, Rome. She served as a deacon and volunteered weekly in the church office. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Women of the Church Book Club, WMU, and she was a volunteer on several mission trips. Frances also played in the Ladies Hand Bell Choir. A Berry graduate, Frances was an active participant in the Daughters of Berry. Other activities included the Cartersville Woman’s Club, the Camellia Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Pilot Club and the Bridge Club.

Mrs. Hobdy is survived by her daughters, Anne Hobdy of Rome, Jennie Bond of Anaheim, CA, and Katherine Hurlburt of Bentonville, AR, nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Katherine McLaurin of Houston, TX and Mrs. Margaret Owen of Alexandria, VA.

The family received friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home Sunday evening December 4, 2016 from 4 to 6 pm. A service was held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church, Rome. Interment followed at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
