James Oliver Booth age 91, of Rome Georgia, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, 2022. He was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. This is where he met his wife Elaine. After serving in the Korean War, they moved to Michigan where he attended GMI and earned a degree in engineering. His entire 34 years of professional life was working for the Saginaw Chevrolet Casting Division of General Motors. They loved to travel in their motorhome and eventually retired to Estero, Florida. He lived there many years until recently moving to Rome, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Elaine, their daughter Leslie, brother Hollis (Marilyn) Booth. Survivors include his children Bruce (Connie) Booth of Petoskey Michigan, Melissa Witsell of Rome, Georgia, grandchildren: Kelsey (Joel) Meyering, Tara Booth, Jackson, Eliza, and Ava Witsell, great grandchildren Jonah and Hazel Meyering, nephew Tim (Leslie) Booth, nieces: Rebecca Schlotterlein and Hilary Armstrong. Cremation has taken place. Per his wishes no services will be held.
