John Paul Williams born September 14, 1962 in Moline, Illinois to Wilbur Williams (Deceased) and Sandra Fugate (West) passed away at the age of 57 on May 12, 2020 in Rome, Georgia. John resided in Calhoun, Georgia and is survived by his wife Mary Willams.
John was a mighty man of Jehovah God. John is in the loving arms of God and will be missed greatly. He will forever be in our hearts. He loved fishing, target shooting, spending time at the ocean, NASCAR, and national history.
John enlisted in the Army on December 27, 1979 at the age of 17. He was stationed in Panama as an infantryman. John separated from the Army at the completion of his enlistment on October 21, 1985. While in military he was married and had a son Eric Williams. After a short time, that marriage ended in divorce.
He was a long time resident of Independence, Missouri. He went to school to be an alignment specialist and mechanic. This career enhanced the love he already had for racing. He built race cars and raced as number 26 at many venues in Missouri.
John became a semi truck driver in 1999. He switched careers to be able to travel the United States and see all the beauty across the country.
In June 2006, he met Mary. It was an instant bonding that will always remain. They were married on November 18, 2009. They built a wonderful life together.
John deeply loved and was deeply loved back by his new family. This includes his step children Angela Coughran, James Glenn, Christine Francis, Nathan Coughran, Carol Abbott, and Jason Francis. He also was loved by his grand children Samantha, Natalie, Amanda, Nathan, and Patrick. John was overjoyed with the arrival of his first great grand son Simon in March 2020.
John has siblings Deborah Lalik, Dale Williams, Greg Williams, and Dennis Williams. He had one nephew Kyle. He has a brother-in-law Earl Lalik and sister-in-law Ronda Williams.
John will receive a military memorial and his ashes inurned at Georgia National Cemetery. The date of the ceremony will take place at a later date to be determined after the COVID-19 pandemic subsides.
