
Mrs. Duncan was the daughter of Dorsey Butler of Savannah and Christine Olver of Dublin, GA. She was born in Savannah on April 18, 1924 and grew up in Atlanta where she graduated from Girls High School. She married Lyman Cleveland Duncan, Jr., of Chattanooga, TN, in 1948. They were married for 61 years until his death in 2007.
A mother of three children, Gayle Duncan Hoyt (husband Wade III) of Rome, Steve Duncan (wife Sherry) of Birmingham, AL, and Jeff Duncan (wife Joni) of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, she is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren with a 10th one due in August.
Mrs. Duncan loved to play bridge, dance and work in her flower garden. She loved her friends, her family and her God.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church here in Rome, where a memorial service will be held Monday, April 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the church. A short visitation was held at 1:30 p.m. in the King Hall, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to SMILE TRAIN, an international organization that provides cleft surgery for third world children.
