

Kathy Diane Worthington Hightower, age 52, of Kingston, GA passed away October 14, 2010. Diane was preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby Gene Watkins, Jr. and Curtis “Willy” Betsill, and her infant son, Timothy Richard Watkins and brother, Danny Ellis Worthington. Left to treasure her memory is her loving companion Donald “Dock” Rowley; parents, Homer Ellis Worthington, Sr. and Janice Trezevant Norton Worthington, Kingston; daughters, Aimee Michelle “Mickey” Watkins, Rome, Kristi Dawn Hall, and her husband, Darrell, Birmingham, AL, and Shannon Leigh Betsill, Austell; granddaughters, Jazmine Marie Zyga, Lilleigh Trezevant Salzberg, Hannah Mae Hall and Willow Diane Wood; brothers, Dennis Edwin Worthington, and his wife, April, Rome, David Lee Worthington, Sr., Homer Ellis Worthington, Jr., and Joseph Wesley Worthington, all of Kingston; sisters, Gwendolyn Worthington Dirkes, and her husband, Jim, Charleston, SC, Wanda Worthington Bonner, and her husband, Oscar, Kingston and Yvonne Worthington Davenport, and her husband, Eddie, Kingston; and a host of well-loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Diane graduated from Model High School, was a trained paralegal and most recently worked at JT’s Country Store in Adairsville. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Kingston. She inherited the Worthington intelligence and loved game shows, books, and was the Scrabble Queen of the family. It’s said that it takes a village to raise a child. If that is true, Diane did her part in helping raise and guide the family and neighborhood children wherever she happened to be. Diane was one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed by all who loved her. The family wishes to thank Heyman HospiceCare of Rome for their compassionate care.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Kingston with burial in the adjacent cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Branton and the Rev. Leon Smith will officiate. The family received friends Friday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at Daniel’s Funeral Home in Rome. During other hours, the family will gather at the Worthington residence, 61 Norton Road, Kingston.
