Ronald Paul Eaker

Born in in Kankakee, IL, June 9, 1956, Ron relocated to Chattanooga (Hixson) with his family with he was twelve. Ron moved to Rome in 1982 where he was a resident for most of 31 years. Ron held a variety of jobs but eventually settled into the newspaper business. Ron started with Rome News Tribune in 1994, . In 2005, Ron relocated to Fort Thomas, KY taking a job for a year with EW Scripts. In 2006, Ron returned to the Rome News Tribune and remained there until he took employment with the Atlanta Journal Constitution January 2012. Work never defined Ron. Ron attended Life Church in Armuchee, GA, taking grandkids with him each week. Ron loved restoring cars, enjoyed motorcycles, football, especially VOLS football. But more those things, he loved his grandkids.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Richard Eaker of Hixson, TN. Ron is survived by his daughters; Shannon Reynolds (Josh) of Rome, Kimberly Nelson (Chris) of Rome, grandchildren; Kotah Keith, Joshua Reynolds, Samantha Nelson, Kameron Morgan, Paul Reynolds, Anna Nelson and Christopher Nelson; his mother, Cynthia Eaker of Hixson, TN; brother, Gary Eaker (Dianna) of Hixson, TN; sisters Donna Davis of Hixson, TN; Brenda Parlier (Steve) of Harrison and Jackie Ledford (Scotsboro, AL), He is also survived by mother of his children, Lorissa Eaker; and friend/ex-wife, Rebecca Eaker and step-daughters Leslie and Laura Edwards.

Funeral services for Mr. Eaker were held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11 A.M. in Life Church, Amuchee, GA with the Reverend Jason Stockton officiating. The family received friends at Daniel’s Funeral Home in Rome on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6 PM until 8 PM.
