Ryan Carter Unsworth

A native of Rome, Ryan was born on August 28, 1979. He is the son of Carter Jefferey Unsworth and the late Nancy Jean Ellis Unsworth. He graduated from Model High School in 1998. Ryan wrestled throughout his high school career and was a four year state qualifier in the state tournament. Following high school, he acquired an Associate’s Degree from South Georgia Technical College, became a certified fire fighter and worked with the Dawson County Fire Department. He also was a certified Master Welder graduating with honors in Metal Fabrication. Ryan enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, bodybuilding and raising reptiles. When he was involved with bodybuilding he competed in the Mr. Georgia Physique Competition.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Jean Ellis Unsworth; maternal grandmother, Doris Leopard; and paternal grandfather, Donald Charles Unsworth.

In addition to his father, Carter J. Unsworth, Ryan is survived by a step-mother, Nina Unsworth; a brother, Shane Ellis Unsworth (Ansley) of Chattanooga, TN; a niece, Reagan Unsworth, of Chattanooga, TN; a step-sister, Andrea Riddle of Rome; paternal grandmother, Bobbie Carter Unsworth; uncles and aunts, Johnny and Tracey Morris, Richard and Donna Barnes; cousins, MaKaylie Morris, Tyler Morris, Ally Unsworth and Michael Pegg.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the North Rome Church of God with Rev. Fred Smith officiating.

The family received friends Tuesday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the church.
