Stanley A. Nelson

Mr. Nelson was born in SanJose, CA. on June 27, 1931, the son of the late George Eugene Nelson Sr. and the late Oleta Sweet Nelson.

He retired from Babb pest control after many years of service and worked for the Chattooga County Sheriff office as a patrol officer. Mr. Nelson was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in the Koran War and a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.

He was also preceded in death by a Brother George Nelson Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Hubbard of Rome, GA. Three son’s Hank Windham of Rome, GA., James Holder Sr. and his wife Brandy of Rome, GA. Patrick Jack and his wife Regena of OK., two daughters Elizabeth Hope Burch and her husband Ed of Tenn. Starr Christmas of Trion, GA. one brother; Jay Nelson and his wife Roberta of CA.; one sister; Kay Nelson of CA. And nine grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Daniel’s Funeral home in the Griffin Memorial chapel with the Rev. James Holder Sr. Rev. Jerry Chisholm and Rev. Chad Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd Memory Garden’s with The Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion will provide military rites.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 17, 2012 from 7p.m until 9 p.m at Daniel’s funeral home.

The following gentleman served as pallbearers; Harold Isham, Chris Hart, Alan Voyles, Jimmy Shaw, David Grawes, and Stuart Honea. Honorary pallbearers are, Bo Wilson and R.D Bagwell.
