William "Bill" P Burelsmith Sr

William "Bill" P Burelsmith Sr., age 70, of Rome, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, after a valiant fight with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. As expected, he led and left with his heart, stubbornly resisting and making sure that it was on his terms.

Bill was born on June 25, 1952 at the Heights Hospital in Houston, TX. He is the son of the late Robert and Vernice Burelsmith. He was preceded in death by his sister Clara Burelsmith.

Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years Janice. He is also survived by his 2 sons, Bill Jr. and wife Jessica, Rob and wife Megan, his 5 grandchildren Jasmine, Olivia, Alexis, Jaylin, and Lyon. Lastly, he is also survived by his sisters Roberta Burelsmith and Melissa Womble…not to mention a plethora of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and loved ones.

Bill served in the Marine Corps as an Aircraft Electrical Systems Technician during the Vietnam Era and met his wife, Janice, while stationed at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, GA. Upon his discharge, he moved back to the Houston area to start a family and begin a 20-year career at Schlumberger, as a Senior Electrical Lab Tech. He was an ever-present father, often found on the floor playing with his boys and always involved with both of his sons’ multiple activities. Bill had a lifelong love of tinkering with mechanical and electronic devices, not to mention carpentry. You would always find him chasing a solution for a new idea or trying to find a way to be involved in a nearby auction.

Bill was a passionate servant to God, his wife, his family, his friends, and anyone who needed a hand-up in life. He was and will always be something most can only hope to be, a Great Man!

A receiving of friends and family for Bill will be held Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Daniel's Funeral Home, 901 E 2nd Ave SW, Rome, Georgia 30161.

A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM, 901 E 2nd Ave SW, Rome, Georgia 30161.

A burial will occur Saturday, July 2, 2022 at New Hope Cemetery, 3732 Loving Rd, Morganton, GA.
