It is with great sorrow that SWLSB Chairperson, Jennifer Maccarone
announces the passing of Director General, Mr. Paul Lamoureux who had been battling an
aggressive form of cancer for the past few months.
No words can express the sadness of Mr. Lamoureux’s death.
The school board, as well as the entire education system has
lost a visionary, a leader like no other, and an overall
remarkable human being who was appreciated, respected and
valued by everybody who ever knew him.
Mr. Lamoureux was appointed Director General of SWLSB in
2016. He brought with him over twenty-five years of experience
in education, the majority of which had been in a senior
management role at Western Quebec School Board (WQSB).
He was a passionate leader who believed in recognizing
human potential at all levels. He understood the challenges of
a minority language school board and had experience in working with different levels of
government.
“Although his journey at SWLSB was a short one, Paul made a deep impression. The time he
spent with us will guide us in the right direction for many years moving forward. He set a vision
for us, and we will honor him by dedicating ourselves to following that vision. We will make sure
that his spirit lives on at the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board. We are extremely privileged to have
worked with this amazing human being.” said Maccarone.
The Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board offers quality educational services to more than 15,000
students in 35 schools and 5 adult education and vocational training centres in Laval, Laurentides
and Lanaudière and has a workforce of nearly 2,000 employees.
