Glenn was born on the family homestead, just inside the Alberta border, near Loverna Saskatchewan. He was the youngest child of William and Mabel [Moore] English. After the death of his father, in 1932, the family moved to Loverna. In 1946, Glenn married Esther Cootes. They started their own family in 1948 (Wesley) and moved to Hanley, where Glenn worked in a store/locker plant and trained as a meat cutter. In 1950, Glenn and Esther moved to Wartime and partnered with Gordon and Marg English in English’s General Store. Their daughter Julie was born in Elrose in 1952. Glenn closed the store in 1974; the oil and gas business in 1982; and retired as Wartime’s postmaster in 1990. Esther and Glenn made their final move to Elrose in 1995. During his lifetime, Glenn enjoyed playing ball, curling, hunting and fishing. Occasionally Esther even got him to take a few “more exotic” holidays...something he was never quite happy with. Glenn was predeceased by his parents William and Mabel, his wife Esther in 2009, his brothers Leslie, Howard and Gordon and his sister Wilma Groeneveld. He is survived by his children Wesley and Julie; five grandchildren (Jessica and Andrea; Crystal, Ryan and Tyler) and two great grandchildren (Jordyn and Lyndon). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eston Jubilee Lodge.
