

It is with great sadness that the family of Harvey Martin McDonald announces his passing on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Harvey was born September 15, 1926 on the farm homestead at Lacadena. He was the fourth child of seven born to Austin and Caroline. Harvey attended Saltburn School and worked with his father on the farm until after World War II. He later took up the carpentry trade and worked for several contractors in Ontario and Saskatchewan. He eventually took steady employment with K and L Construction until such time that he ventured out on his own as a self-employed contractor taking on smaller construction jobs and remodeling work. Harvey is survived by his sisters Mabel McCracken and Gladys Wunderlich (Al Staff), his brother Mervyn (Christel), sisters-in-law Catherine and Joyce, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Austin and Caroline, stepmother Edith Cheney, brothers Cecil, Ivan and Lloyd, brothers-in-law Howard McCracken and Richard Wunderlich and niece Beverley Houk. A Celebration of Harvey’s life was celebrated on Tuesday, April 15th at the Elrose United Church. Harvey will rest in the Lacadena Cemetery and in lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Elrose Health Centre.
