Linda, So sorry to learn about Dan's passing in 2021.  We got your Christmas Card returned in the mail with no forwarding address.   Just know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers and that Dan will always be remembered.  I always remember his truck he drove to school and when that got ruined the 56' Chevy (pink if I remember) parked in front of Washington High School where the truck had always been parked.  And meeting you and him at your parents house a few times--great memories.  We graduated high school together and he joined the Air Force not to long after I did (1971) as well as we worked at the gas station B & E Enco in Newark.   We talked a few times when he was stationed at Beale AFB and when I would come home to Fremont on leave to visit.  It is with a heavy heart that we say we miss him but no where as much as you, your children, and grandchildren do each and every day. Uncle Dan was always there to greet you with a big warm bear hug. He always took time to ask you how you are and how life was treating you. His kindness and how welcoming he was always stood out to me. He was always willing to help you in times of need. I will miss him tremendously and all the joy he brought our family.

In high school, Dan used to write us notes to get out of P.E. Example: please excuse Jeannine from P.E., she has cramps.  

I remember on one cruise, a Congo line was going around the dining room.  Dan was the only one in our group to join it with me. We had so much fun!

Loved having Dan and Linda at our home in Idaho the last week of July.  Lots of card games, laughter. Lunch at one of our favorite wineries. Dan helped Cole order a new keyless entry to our home.  Last year he helped Cole re-wire lighting Cole had installed. Always a wealth of info!! Always full of laugher, good cheer, warm hugs. I will miss you dearly!!

As the tears streams down my face and land on the keyboard, I struggle to write this to you, dad.  You were the best father,  friend, role model, Papa, husband, family man, protector, provider and leader a girl could ever ask for.  How I got so incredibly lucky to have you as a father and my children to have you as a grandfather (their Papa)  is beyond me, but I am forever grateful.  You showed us and taught us your strength, your tender side, your giving ways, your forgiveness, your gratitude, and your generosity. You lead by example making Leanne and I strong leaders.  I will forever miss your physical presence in my life, but you will forever live in my heart and be in my memories.  I promise we will take care of mom and grandma just as good as you did, which will not be easy because you spoiled them both. I want you to rest in peace, come visit me in my dreams and haunt my house with your silly practical jokes.  I will thrive in life and make you proud, and privately share every milestone with you. I’ve been friends with Dan for 50 years. Even though we grew apart, he will always be my friend. We worked together & played together. We played cards together, every week for many years. We both got certified to scuba dive together. We laughed a lot.  We spent a lot of time together riding motorcycles. We rode many Saddlesore 1000’s & Bun Burner1500  endurance motorcycle rides. I will always smile, thinking about all of the great times we had. R.I.P. my friend. 

Dan is a man. He is a great friend. Always willing to teach me anything. The way he loved his family and he showed it. From his 2 crazy daughters and his wife. The man deserves saint hood. Always witty always ready with a joke. But he was a good friend he tell you what you fucked up. When you needed to do better. And he was open about it. He loved his grandkids if he knew you there nothing he wouldn't help you with. Dan is one friend that hurts to lose this man way to soon. In this life if I can love and be half the man he was. Then I've done good. Dan I miss you and the 49ers gonna get it done.

When I was little, you called me Taradactal.  You would come over for poker nights on Fridays and us kids would be watching TGIF. You would call us over and give us a $1 in quarters and say 'go put this in your Piggy bank!' And we ran with our feety pajamas to do just that! 
Eventually those nights ended, but we have had so many memories since then. Big Basin, family gatherings and holiday parties. I love and appreciate you more than you know.  You have always been there if it were helping install flooring or helping to fix my car, or just random things that needed two handy guys, you and my dad.  I am grateful to have known you and even more so to be able to say you are family.  I will always be thankful for spying on Santa as well. That gave me so many amazing memories that I cherish and pass down to Jeffrey. Thank you for being such an amazing person and Uncle. We love you!

Dear uncle Dan, when I think of you I go back to when I was a little girl and our family gatherings.  There were many of them during my childhood. When we would arrive to whatever family members home that was hosting we all went to greet one an another but what stands out is you. In my little girl eye's you were this big and tall man and I seemed so small compared to you. I knew that everytime I saw you I would run up to you, you would kneel down grab me , pick me up and give me a giant bear hug followed with your deep yet gentle laugh.  I always looked forward to it. You always made me feel welcome.  I wish I shared that memory with you when you were here. Its amazing how something so small can impact someone and create such a warm memory I have now as an adult many years later. One day I will greet you in heaven and I look forward to hearing your laugh and getting my bear hug. We will all look after grandma.  We love and miss you so much! Until we meet again....

I knew Dan for 50 years and his passing has been difficult to comprehend.   My earliest memories are of him coming to our house, in his 1964 Malibu, beautiful car.  I got a few rides to school from him and Linda.  

He has always been so helpful with projects I needed help with around the house and would spend hours helping out.  Never asked for a thing in return.    He was a good man, a good husband, he was like a blood brother to Steve, Julie and I.   He will be missed very much.    

Ohhh Uncle Dan. We always were close but when I became a single parent you and Aunt Linda were always there for questions, advice. Car work. Always coming to see Hardy in the hospital much like most family stepped up for us. You were always a text or phone call away for everyone. It leaves a huge hole in our family without you. I hope you’re enjoying heaven with all your family up there. We love and miss you here. 

Oh my goodness, my heart has been in pieces since the day you entered the hospital, I prayed so hard for you so often.
I miss you so much,  each time I called you you’d answer with a deep hello, wondering what I needed.   I’m so lost without you, you constantly refreshed my computer, bringing it up to date all the time, now it won’t get done.
You were in our life and family for 52 years, I so wanted more, I wasn’t done needing you.  You never once raised your voice to me, never got upset with me, you did everything and more for me. (Just one time with misunderstanding when bringing my groceries, and it was my fault)
What are we all supposed to do now?  You aren’t hear to advise us.
You were so loved  and the love ❤️ will continue.

Love you and miss you with all my heart Brother.  You were the nicest and most generous person I believe I ever knew.  You were always there for anyone who needed it. Your devotion to me was without question, as was mine to you.  I know that you are up there in heaven now probably making a list of blonde jokes that you can tell me when I get there. I can't wait! You were always so much fun to be around;  we always had so much to laugh about.
I'm sure you have a Mexican Train game going on up there now and very likely you are the one keeping score. Don't forget to save me a place at the table! Love you dearly and I'll miss you forever! My heart is broken 💔
