

David Laird Doten passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. David was born in Los Angeles on October 30, 1932. He moved with his family to the San Fernando Valley in 1945. He graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1950. He attended San Fernando Valley Community College before transferring to UCLA. He majored in Business Administration, was a member of the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps and the Kappa Sigma Social Fraternity. He graduated in 1955 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Naval reserve. He served aboard the USS Shangri-La CVA 38 for two years and in The Naval Reserve until 1964.
David began his professional career at Ralph's Grocery Company in 1957 as a management trainee in store operations. He had a distinguished career in supermarket operations. He progressed up-through-the-ranks at Ralph's to Vice President of Store Operations until he was recruited as Executive Vice President of FedMart Corporation. Following FedMart, David established his own business in national executive management recruiting.
David met his bride-to-be in 1990 and married Wilhelmina in 1994 in Mission Viejo. He retired in 2002. He joined the Masons, Shriners and Bedouins RV Club. They later lived in Granite Bay and Sun City/Roseville.
David will be missed by all who knew him but none more than by his soulmate and wife, Wilhelmina, his son Michael Scott and Scott's wife, Alicia. He lived a rich and fulfilling life, raised a family, pursued a successful career and with his wife, Wilhelmina, traveled throughout the world.
