Delbert (Del) Leroy Stiles born on January 27, 1939, in Laurens, Iowa. He passed away peacefully at age 80 on April 21, 2019 in Roseville, California. He was born to Fay and Edith Stiles and was the youngest of their seven children.
Del graduated from Laurens High School and served in the Navy as an ensign from 1958 to 1962. He married Mary Deanna Griffeth on April 25, 1964, in Las Vegas, Nevada. After serving with the Navy, he began a career as an aerospace mechanic with Aerojet Rocketdyne. He retired in 1994 after 30 years in the industry. He was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Throughout their marriage, he and his wife Deanna lived in Southern California, Colorado, and Roseville, California. Shortly after his wife’s passing in 1993, he moved back to Roseville where he lived for the remainder of his life.
Some of his proudest moments in life were serving in the Navy, working on rockets and shuttles from the Apollo missions, and the birth of his six children. He was a lifelong Giants fan and 49ers fan. His favorite music genre included country and blues. Most notably he enjoyed Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Steve Ray Vaughn, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. In his down time he liked to hunt, fish, and work on cars.
He was preceded in death by his wife Deanna; son, Scott; brothers, Leland and William Stiles; and sisters, Betty Lingle and Donna Whitmore. Del is survived by his sons, Mike Stiles (Lynné), Jim Stiles (Mona), Bill Stiles, and Jeff Stiles; daughter, Kimberly Lodini (Phil); sisters, Sadie Challand and Goldie Heathman; grandchildren, Aleesha Carothers (Billy), Holly Stiles, and Jordan Stiles; and great-grandchildren, Lily, Lacey, Liam and Landon Carothers.
Friends and family can pay their respects at the graveside service on Friday, May 3 at 11:00 am with a reception following at the home of Mike & Lynné Stiles.
