

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Emilie Celine Musci of Roseville, California. Emilie was born on August 11, 1934 in White Plains, New York. She was the beloved daughter of Emilie Celine and Charles Oswald (Charlie) Magrane. She passed away on June 14, 2025 with her sister and devoted sons beside her, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness. Emilie graduated from Grasslands Hospital Nursing Program, Westchester County, New York receiving the “Annie E. Grass” award:the only award given per class. Emilie then went on to devote her life to nursing and her family. She married James Vincent Musci June 7, 1958 becoming a career Air Force family moving from base to base through the years bearing three sons, Matthew(Matt)1959, Raymond(Ray)1960 and Craig 1964. While creating this busy life, Emilie completed her nursing education while also teaching at the University of New Mexico and San Jose State University graduating with her PhD in Nursing UCSF and then went on to teach Oncology Nursing at the University of California San Francisco (Stanford Hospital).
After retirement she devoted her days to Hospice combining visits with her champion obedience-trained Huskies...although loving them all ”Mouse” her favorite was the one featured on Sacramento News with her while visiting Mercy San Juan Hospital patients. Emilie was devoted to the Pet Therapy Program as well and was a qualifier for therapy dog certification. She made treasured friends in all the organizations she participated in. The city of Sacramento honored Emilie with the 2007 Spirit Award as Sacramento's Volunteer of the Year in Health Care.
Upon retiring from Hospice Emilie took up the hobby of quilting giving almost all of her quilts away as gifts ...her total enjoyment was making the quilts, sharing the quilting ladies' friendship and giving her quilts as gifts.
It is hard to imagine life without her. We treasure our memories.
Emilie is survived by her sons: Raymond & wife Laurie of Monterey, CA, and Craig of Roseville, CA. Grandchildren: Matthew's son: Luke & wife Chelsey of Henderson, Nevada; Ray's son: James of New Mexico; Ray's daughter: Alanna of Chicago Illinois; Ray & Laurie's sons: Robert and Christopher of Monterey, CA.; Craig's sons: Anthony (Tony) of Massachusetts and Aaron of Oceanside, Ca. as well as 6 great-grandchildren to date. Siblings: sister Marie & husband Jim Beck of San Diego, CA; William (Bill) Magrane of Acworth, GA; Peter Magrane of Madison, CT and Greg & wife Mary Magrane of Beacon Falls, CT.
Emilie was predeceased by her husband, James (2015) and her son, Matthew (2010).
