

Kawaye "Kay" Miyata passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday July 13, 2021 at the age of 87. She was born in Roseville, California on April 21, 1934 to Kikunobu and Mikie Kawamoto. She was raised in Loomis.
After graduating from Placer High School in Auburn, Kay attended nursing school at UCSF, and settled in Sacramento upon marrying Harry Miyata in 1960. She enjoyed a long career working as a pediatric nurse for more than 40 years. Kay and Harry remained happily wedded until his death in 2007.
Kay was an active, lifelong member of the Placer Buddhist Church and Placer Buddhist Women's Association, and was particularly devoted to supporting its Annual Food Bazaar.
Kay is survived by her sister Sadako Kudow and brother Ray Kawamoto, and many neices and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her husband Harry, her parents, and brothers Gunichi and Takeshi. A private memorial service for invited guests will be held July 24, 2021 at 4:30 pm, at Placer Buddhist Church in Penryn.
