Maury was born on September 4, 1919 in Cuba, Illinois and died rather quickly on December 18, 2011 in Roseville, California. He was 92 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Garnet, his wives, Helen Collins Quillen and Virginia Kent, and many other relatives.
He is survived by his sister Ila Donovan, his wife Nancy, his sons Maurice (Willie) Quillen and William (Bonnie) Quillen, his grandchildren Maurice (Angela) Quillen, Sean (Julia) Quillen, Erin (Gilbert) Darisse, Heather Quillen and four great-grandchildren Rachel, Claire, Cory and Erika.
Maury led a very active and full life. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. His last duty was Provost Marshal for the Japanese city of Sendai.
He graduated from Western Illinois University, attended De La Salle College in Manila and also the University of San Francisco. He also attended a business management program at Stanford University.
During his thirty-one years with Owens Corning he was a very successful branch manager and a pioneer in their International Department. He was a real global businessman and lived in many countries including, Australia, Japan, Lebanon, and Columbia.
Maury was an avid golfer who built many golf clubs for his friends and family. He also enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing. He was an excellent shot and owned several great hunting dogs over the years. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree), Ducks Unlimited, NRA and several other professional associations.
Services: Visitation on 12/27/11 from 4 to 7 PM at St. Clare’s Catholic Church in Roseville, CA. Requiem Mass on 12/28/11 at 11 AM with Reception to follow. Graveside services on 12/29/11 at 1 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, CA.
