

Ronald R. Murphy (1934 – 2010)
Ronald Ray Murphy was born August 22, 1934 in Wheeling, West Virginia and left this life June 24, 2010 at his home in Loomis, California. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Murphy, of Fair Oaks; his son, Ronald Robert Murphy of Vancouver, Washington; and five grandchildren, Amber Murphy of Honolulu Hawaii, Kristin Murphy of Salmon Creek , Washington; Ronald “Bobby” Murphy Jr. of Fort Benning, Georgia; Caitlin Murphy and Daniel Murphy of Vancouver, Washington. His extended family includes nephews and nieces, Randy Millert, Leland Bottorff, John Murphy, Tom Murphy, Jack Murphy, Phillip Murphy, Dan Murphy, Doug Murphy, Joyce Smathers and Cindy Romandia.
Ron served honorably in the National Guard and the Army. During Ron’s Army career he served as a Ski Trooper in Alaska. After his wartime service, he served in the Army Reserves as a Platoon Sergeant in a Water Purification unit for an additional 20 years and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. Ron had a long and full career in the grocery business working for Lucky and Safeway Grocery Stores and retired in 1994 from the Safeway in Rocklin. Forever a people person, Ron knew most of the people who lived in the Rocklin area. After his retirement, Ron devoted himself to his friends, extended family and his dogs. An article was written about Ron’s devotion to his beloved dog, Bobo, in the local paper.
