

His parents, David and Orilla Josepheen Dunn, were both orphans. His father was an Iron Worker, a bridge builder, so the family, moved to different towns in different states following the work.
The family made their way to Northern California, with Bill spending some time at Placer High School in Auburn. While there, at a Grange Hall dance, he met his future bride, LaVonne Goeman.
His family moved again to San Andreas, CA where Bill graduated from Calaveras High School in 1949.
Upon graduation Bill moved to Hawaii working for the U.S. Geological Survey. He lived there for 3 years. His parents came to visit him in Hawaii, and they decided to stay. So he decided to leave.
He came back to California and got a job at the Roseville Rail Yards.
In 1953, LaVonne graduated from Roseville High School and they were engaged in November 1953 and Married on March 6, 1954. They were married for 65 years.
Bill started his carrier in water and power, with PG&E at the Drum Power House and then transferred to a job at Lake Spaulding.
In 1956 their son, Steven, was born. The family moved to Sacramento and daughter, Debra, was born in 1957.
From there the family relocated to Concord and then to Berkeley, with Bill continuing his career with PG&E.
Bill took another job with PG&E, returning to Lake Spaulding as Powerhouse Operator.
Placer County Water Agency was starting to grow and they offered Bill a job in Foresthill, so the family moved again.
In 1966 Bill went to work for the California Department of Water Resources. He held many jobs in his 29 year career at the Department of Water Resources, managing power and water from North to South, helping manage the California Water System.
He retired in 1995.
3 years after retirement Bill suffered a severe stroke that eliminated the use of his left arm and leg. It slowed him down but never stopped him. For 21 years, Bill managed his disability with the unwavering love and support of his wife, LaVonne.
In his retirement years, Bill and LaVonne remained very active with the family.
As time evolved, Bill and LaVonne relocated from South Sacramento to be closer to Debbie and all of her family activities. And as the need for additional help became greater, they relocated to the Golden Pond Retirement Community.
On Friday, June 14, 2019, Bill passed away in Sacramento, CA having lived 86 years and 10 months.
Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, LaVonne Dunn, his son Steven Dunn (Connie) of Cedar City, Utah and daughter Debra Pevey (Gary) of Sacramento. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Shannon, Ryan & Kyle Dunn, Lauren & Ellen Pevey.
