Miss you mom.  I can't believe it's been a year.  Having mass said for you and dad today.  I love you both.

I always jokingly said that I was your favorite son-in-law.  Whether it was true or not is irrelevant.  The fact is that you always made me feel like I was your favorite. You always treated me more like a son than a son-in-law.  And maybe that was your gift... that no matter who you were with, you made them feel special.  That theme was repeated by each of your grandchildren during their heart-felt eulogies.

You were always happiest when surrounded by your family.  The last time we were all together was in celebration of your 90th birthday (see picture).

Know you are loved.

Know that you'll be missed.

Rest in your well-earned peace, "Joan, mom, gramma, Oma"!

Dear Aunt Joan, so many beautiful memories - from Christmas Eve's with all the cousins, aunts and uncles, fun family parties in your basement, Sunday afternoon's watching you, uncle Dick, my folks, aunts and uncles playing cards at your kitchen table while us kids would beg for a dime when we heard the ice cream man approaching. I remember watching The Wizard of Ox from your pretty home. I remember all the laughter. And sleep overs where you made me wear a scarf around my neck when I said I had a sore throat. It helped! 
Rest in peace Aunt Joan and please give my Dad a big hug from me.

While I'm still fairly new to the family Gramma welcomed me warmly. I'm very happy I got to meet her and spend the time with her I did. She helped raise my wonderful husband and sister-in-law into the amazing people they both are. Gramma don't worry everyone will be ok. This family has each other's back and the love and support from all is unending.

I will never forget your stories of how you met dad in Roseville at a “street dance” where you asked him to dance.  You confessed that you had your eye on him for awhile and would “hide out” at your girlfriend’s house to catch a glimpse of him walking home from school.  Often, you and your friend would perfectly time a walk down the street, in the opposite direction, just to smile and say “hello”.   I will always think of you and dad when I drive by Sacred Heart Church and the Roseville Theatre, remembering how you said you would park your bike at the church and walk to the Theatre to catch a movie or two with dad and friends.  
You talked about how much you loved your big brother, Ray, and would hang out with him, even if it was to watch him play baseball with his buddies.  You said he never minded and allowed you to play too.  You talked about how much you loved your little Brother, Dickie, who passed at age 3.  You talked a lot about the backyard family square dances you had growing up, where relatives would come every weekend to dance to the jukebox that was outside on a wooden dance platform.  You also talked about the “hard luck” parties you would have during the depression, when the weather would turn cold and the jukebox was moved from the yard to the living room.  
You were a wonderful “50’s” mom to all of us and often said your favorite age was 32.  I hope you are age 32 for all eternity, along with dad who claimed to always be “42” no matter what his actual age was.
Thank you for the wonderful childhood memories and always reminding me to be forgiving of others as God teaches us.  
May you rest in the arms of your Lord and Savior who you loved so deeply.
