

SCZEMPEK, Josephine F. (nee: Stasik) 93, passed away May 2, 2014. Josephine was born on December 10, 1920 to Joseph and Stephanie (Winiarski) Stasik in Tarr, Pennsylvania. In her early working life she worked at Sander's at Gratiot and 7 Mile Road and Huck's Roadhouse. She became a salesperson for the J.L. Hudson Company first downtown, then at the Northland store and later the Eastland Store. She worked in the Young Boys and Drapery Departments. She met and married Edward Sczempek (d. April 1993) and together they raised three children who survive her: Patricia Brejnak, Kathleen (Richard) Karschnia and Lawrence (Barbara) Sczempek. Josephine is the dear grandmother of Kelly (John) Berry, Scott (Margaret) Cyrus, Kristin (Rob) Casalou, Mark (Hope) Karschnia, Jessica (David) Faulker and Lauren Sczempek. She leaves her sister Dorothy Rogers and was pre-deceased by a sister Frances Wilkoff and brother Daniel Stasik. Josephine is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren: Patrick, Kevin, Meghan, Jack and Margaret Berry; Cameron and Josephine Cyrus; Julie, John and Emily Casalou; Loren and Alex Karschnia. Visitation Monday 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home 27830 Gratiot Ave., Roseville. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass, 10:30 a.m. at St. Athanasius Catholic Church.
