Tony was born on October 18, 1974, to Timothy and Doris Spain in Manhattan, New York. He also lived in the Myrtle Beach/Conway area of South Carolina and the Metro Atlanta area.
Throughout his youth, Tony enjoyed attending church, singing, dancing, and bowling. Classic sitcoms, such as "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "A Different World," "Living Single," and "Martin," also brought many smiles to Tony’s face.
Tony graduated in 1997 from the Strive Program offered at Duluth High School. After completing studies, Tony worked with Creative Enterprises from September 1997 to February 2023. While there, he was supported in developing job skills, growing his independence, and exploring meaningful opportunities. Tony also enjoyed participating in educational and creative opportunities that nurtured his curiosity, personal growth, and self-expression.
Tony is survived by his mother, Doris Spain; grandmother, Elizabeth Ledbetter; aunts and uncles, Mike and Norma Jean Turk, Violet Crawford, and Janice Williams; brothers, Timothy Alton Spain (Quantina) and Jason Stevens (Lesha); a sister, Linette Stevens; nieces and nephews, Ashli, Toniah, Erin, Kristine, Jason Jr, Janae, Tyler, and Kayla. Also left to cherish Tony’s memory are his foster mother, Tamma Davis; foster siblings, Rechad, Richard, Marlon, Slade, Foli, Hannah, and Temisa; and other foster family members, Terry and Brenda Lemonds, CeeKay and Phia Kanyi, Pam Lewis, Antonitta Bolling, Bonnie Carver, Elizabeth Gonzalez, and Marilou Arnold. A host of other cousins, nieces, and nephews also mourn. Tony’s beloved caregiver and “Bodyguard,” Michael, will also forever treasure time they spent together.
Tony is preceded in death by his father, Timothy Spain; great-grandmother, Sadie Gore; uncle, Bobby Crawford; foster father, Herb Davis; foster aunt, Windy Christmas; and foster brother, Fabian Bolling.
Besides spending time with friends and family, Tony also enjoyed bossing around his four-legged siblings, Ginger, Moo Moo, and Spencer. Art was another hobby Tony took interest in, specifically creating Masterpiece Circles. The most important activity Tony participated in was serving his beloved house of worship since 1998, Victory Church. He was declared an unofficial greeter and made everyone he encountered feel welcome. He became known as “The Governor” because he seemed to know everyone and he never met a stranger!
Tony was a precious gift from God, known for a heart that overflowed with love and a soul that reflected Christ in rare and beautiful ways. To know Tony was to experience kindness without condition, joy without pretense, and love without limits. He had a way of touching lives by simply being who God created him to be.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 o’clock in the afternoon on April 30, 2026, in the youth building at Victory Church, located at 5985 Financial Dr, Norcross, Georgia 30071.
