Babatunde Edward Massaquoi

Babatunde’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of his existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which he lived. His brave heart, insightful spirit and generous soul brought so much joy to his family and friends.

Babatunde was born on October 13, 1973, in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. He attended St. Philips primary school, Sierra Leone Grammar school and then, the Sierra Leone Teachers College.

Babatunde was a continuous learner, he was extremely passionate about early education where he dedicated his time to teaching.

He was an avid reader, he showed interest in multiple topic areas including religion, philosophy, science, and psychology and more.

He served as a member of a peacekeeping force during the Liberia civil war.

He enjoyed football, movies, music and playing board games with his family and friends.

Babatunde is survived by his parents Mr. Claude and Mrs. Clara Olabisi Walker-Johnson and Mr. Edward Massaquoi (deceased). The love of his life Aminata Massaquoi; Son, Olatunji Massaquoi, including his beloved grandmothers, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews, nieces, and close friends.

His memory will be cherished by the Walker family, Deen family, Massaquoi family, Cole family, Peacock family, Edwards family, Macrae family, During family, Newstead family, Kessebeh family, Coker family, Hillard family, Belu-John family, Ademu- John family, Macauley family, George family, Cole family, Thorpe Family, and the Johnson family. Close friends include Aruna, Francis, Pa Jerry, his close neighbors on Coker Drive, Lumley and many extended family members and friends.

The Johnson, Walker, Massaquoi family will receive friends on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 at 11:00a.m. EST/4:00p.m. GMT until 1:00p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 1:00p.m. E.S.T/6:00p.m. G.M.T in Roswell’s Chapel with Dr. Harry Cole officiating.

Committal will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum.
