Barry Eugene Greenway passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 16, 1943, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Aubrey and Frances Greenway. He later moved with his family to Roswell, Georgia, where he often shared fond memories of fishing, hunting, visiting the drug store on Canton Street, and many other cherished moments before Roswell grew into the city it is today.
Barry was a beloved husband, father, brother, and “Granddaddy.” He will also be remembered for his service during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Air Force. Throughout his career as a mechanical draftsman, he contributed to the creation of several of Atlanta’s most well-known establishments.
Barry will be deeply missed for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to his family and friends, and his passion for rescuing greyhounds. His compassion and generosity touched the lives of countless people, and his family is grateful for the many memories he leaves behind.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandi Rivers and Tamy Davis and her husband, Jeff Davis; his sister, Cheryl Greenway; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the many friends whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Greenway, and we find comfort in imagining them reunited — hand in hand, walking together on the beaches of Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Barry’s memory to the Southeast Greyhound Club.
Barry’s departure leaves a tremendous void in our hearts, but his love, kindness, and legacy will forever be cherished.
