Charles Lorenzo Haywood was born on January 25, 1951 in Bartow, Florida, to Willie Haywood, Sr. and the late Dorothy Redick Haywood. Charles accepted Christ at an early age. He was called to eternal rest on the morning of February 7, 2020.
Charles graduated Franklin High School in 1969, where he was an excellent wrestler, competing for a state championship his senior year. He went on to attend Princeton University, where he graduated in 1973 with an Artium Baccalaureus in Politics.
On August 16, 1975, Charles married the love of his life, the late Brenda Anne Clark Haywood, with whom he built a loving home and had three children. He was a devoted husband and father who showered his family with love and affection. He was dedicated to his career with AT&T and Teradata, where he held positions of increasing responsibility leading to consulting projects in China, India, the United Kingdom, and throughout the United States.
Though he was known to have a serious and determined demeanor in public, Charles’ family and friends saw his fun-loving side. He was passionate about politics and classic movies, and he loved to play golf and travel, especially to Maui, Hawaii. Charles was extremely generous, mentoring countless youth and young professionals, and donating to many charities. He remained active in the Princeton Black Alumni Association and Franklin High School alumni groups.
Charles was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Brenda Anne Clark Haywood, loving mother Dorothy Redick Haywood, big brother Willie Haywood, Jr., and nephew Darrell “Bam” Stenson.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his father Willie Haywood, Sr., sister Sandra Redick; four brothers: David, Alwin “Marty”, Dexter (Debbie), and Tyrone (Nadine) Haywood; three children: Keisha Haywood (Cheriff), Danielle McGee (Dwight), and Eric Haywood; three grand-children: Brendan, Cameran and Logan McGee; and a host of relatives and friends.
Services will be held at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 888 Zion Circle, Roswell, GA. 30075. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 10:00 am till 11:00 am. Celebration of life will also be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 am.
