

Earl graduated from City College in New York with an advanced degree in Civil Engineering. He had a very impressive 33 year career with the United States Corp of Engineering where he traveled extensively internationally; and also served in the Army National Guard. Upon his retirement with the corps, he took a position with Lockwood Green Engineering firm as a Vice President of International Service.
Throughout his career, Earl earned many awards for outstanding service and accomplishments in his field; including: The National Society of Professional Engineers…”Engineer of the Year”. While serving the U.S. Corps in Saudi Arabia, he was awarded the Middle East Division’s “EEO ‘Man’ of the Year Award. He was recognized by Wernher von Braun for 10 years of service with The National Aeronautics and Space Administration. In addition, he was recognized at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL, for participation, faithful service, and contribution to the successful launch of the first Saturn V.
Earl was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers where he served on committees both locally and on a national level. In addition, he was past president of the Georgia Section.
After retirement, Earl enjoyed volunteering in the community. It was through his volunteering with the Atlanta Symphony that he met his wife, Jan. He was also a volunteer with the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, as well as a volunteer with the Russian Art Exhibit to name a few.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl J. Sr. and Josephine Kramer as well as his sister Joan Kramer of Mobile, AL, uncles: Stephen Szabo of Mobile, AL, Anthony Szabo of NY and Johnny Szabo of Seattle, WA.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Jan; his son, Paul Anthony Kramer (Theresa), and daughter Kathryn Franklin (Billie) and step daughters: Tamara Ledford (James) and Amy Spann (Michael). Earl had 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by cousins: Anthony Szabo (Anne) and Myra Richards of NJ.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 15, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Roswell Funeral Home. Following cremation a Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, November 18, at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 1015 Old Roswell Road Roswell, GA 30076.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Society of Civil Engineers, Georgia Section scholarship fund.
