

Frances Few Hembree, RN age 92 passed away on 29 October, 2013. She was the only daughter of Rev. Reese O. Few and Irene Few of Watkinsville, Ga. She married Monroe P. Hembree of Marietta, Ga. in September 1942. They were together 55 years until his death in May 1997. She graduated from St. Joseph's Infirmary School of Nursing in April 1942. For the next 24 years she worked at St. Joseph's at the Atlanta downtown location as head nurse on the surgery Hall 300. Later she was in charge of the Out Patient Clinic. The family moved to Dunwoody and in 1969 she worked as the Employee Health Nurse at Brook Run. She and her husband were active members of Dunwoody United Methodist Church and she chaired many offices of the United Methodist Women. Besides her church activities she was an accomplished flower gardener and animal lover. In the 1980's she established a kennel, A-Few Whippets. For over a decade she was a breeder of many Champion Whippet dogs. On several occasions her Whippets were invited to be shown at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City. Her only son, Few M. Hembree of Atlanta, Ga. survives her. In lieu of flowers donations to her favorite charity, Murphy-Harpst Children's Centers is appreciated.
