Frankie earned a degree in Business Education at Georgia’s Teacher’s College (Georgia Southern University). After graduating, Frankie moved to Atlanta and met her husband, Eugene O’Brien, Sr. They were married for 55 years. Before having children, Frankie taught elementary school for Dekalb County Public Schools.
She and Eugene had two children; a son and a daughter. Frankie devoted her life to serving her family. She supported her husband in his law career while volunteering for numerous organizations. When Frankie’s children were older, she worked part-time for Georgia State Soccer Association where she promoted the growth of youth soccer across the state. Both Frankie and her husband played an intricate role in the development of youth soccer in Georgia. Frankie was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and was proud of her Irish heritage by marriage. She loved her extended family in Ireland as well as here in Georgia. Frankie enjoyed traveling especially to her favorite beach in Siesta Key, Florida. She also traveled to Ireland, England, Italy, and France.
Mrs. O’Brien is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Annie Margaret Bland and her loving husband Eugene O’Brien Sr.
She is survived by her son, Eugene O’Brien Jr. her daughter; Debra O’Brien Thomas (Kevin), sister-in-law and bother-in-laws; Terry Everson, Robert O’Brien and Tom O’Brien, grandchildren; Lauren, Jack and Ryan Peebles, and two-step grandchildren.
A wake will be held at Roswell Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The memorial service will be held at All Saints Catholic Church Wednesday November 25, 2020 at 2 pm. The Internment will take place on a later date at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
