It is with regret that we announce the passing of Gregory Allison “Greg” Hurst, beloved father, grandfather, husband, and respected leader, who died peacefully on November 24, 2024, at the age of 67. Greg was the son of Jack and Charlotte Hurst, born February 11, 1957, in Shirley, MA.
Greg devoted his life to his family, his career, and his passion for the healthcare industry. He is an alumnus of Emory University and worked in various financial management roles for over 20 years before serving on the Executive Leadership team of Piedmont Healthcare, where he was instrumental in its growth and success. His visionary leadership and commitment to improving healthcare administration left an indelible mark on the organization, earning him the admiration of colleagues and the gratitude of many he helped serve. Greg’s legacy is one of innovation, and excellence. Greg happily retired in 2019.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Greg found immense joy in his family and his personal pursuits. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 41 years, Mary, with whom he shared many cherished memories, particularly their travels, time with family and friends, and the mountains of North Georgia in Big Canoe. His dedication to his family, and relentless pursuit for excellence were hallmarks of his character.
Greg is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, Christopher and Lindsey, and his beloved grandchildren, Jordyn, Andrew and Elliott. He is also remembered fondly by his extended family, friends, and colleagues, all of whom were fortunate to have known him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 1, from 12:00-2:00 pm at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 pm at Green Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Cancer Society, which is an organization that supports healthcare initiatives that were dear to him.
Greg will be greatly missed, but his legacy of love and leadership will live on through the many lives he touched.
