Jack Allison Hurst, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on August 23, 2019 in Wilmington, North Carolina after years of declining health. Jack was born in Laurel, Mississippi on July 26, 1933. He was the son of the late Rufus D. Hurst and Mary Livingston Hurst. After graduating from Mississippi Southern College, Jack served in the United States Army and Army Reserve. He retired from Rhodes Furniture Company in 1995 after 38 years of service.
Jack was a member if John Wooten Masonic Lodge in Laurel, a founding member of the Country Club of Roswell and a member of Peachtree Corners Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Charlotte Smith Hurst, brothers, James Hurst and Billy Hurst, and his sisters, Frances Powers and Doris Shaw.
Jack is survived by his wife Gloria Simpson Hurst, son, Greg Hurst (Mary), stepdaughter Angie Ferguson (Joe) ,granddaughter, Lindsey Hurst, grandson, Chris Hurst (Amanda), two great grandchildren, Jordyn and Andrew Hurst, one brother Don Hurst (Peggy) and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington, North Carolina.
