Jacques Lorient was born on March 27, 1936 on the Caribbean island of Haiti. He grew up in the town of Cap-Haitian, aka Au-Cap. His parents were Norvilus Lorient and Marie Philostine Bieneaime Lorient (preceded in death). Jacques was the oldest of six brothers: Renee, Luckner (PD), Apollos (PD), Eriveau, and Josue. His parents were devout Christians who taught them the importance of believing in and serving God, as well as faith, unity, and love for people.
Growing up in Haiti, Jacques loved to play soccer. After College, he served in the military Air Force Division. He was proficient in Morse Code.. He later met Huguette Menard, and they married in 1962. In 1967, they immigrated to the United States and lived in Brooklyn, NY. He worked for years and got into Real Estate, Management and Investment. Their children are Marie Chantal, Guy, Judith, and Nancy.
Jacques and his family were members of the French-speaking Baptist Church on Clermont Ave. in Brooklyn, NY (Pastor Jean Baptiste Thomas, PD). He was a faithful member of the church men’s choir, where he sang tenor. He was also a missionary through his church, where they visited several countries and served the less fortunate. They later moved to GA in 2004. There, they attended Divinity Church International with Archbishop Frederick T. Nah and Overseer Pastor Karen Nah. They also attended Haitian Baptist Church of the Redeemer in Lilburn, GA (Pastor Tider Exume).
Jacques and his wife Huguette, raised their children to love and serve God. To fear and reverence the Lord, respect their parents/authority, and live according to God’s Word. Prayer was central in their household along with family table fellowship. Jacques enjoyed watching and attending wrestling matches, soccer games, boxing, and watching Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. He liked to take family trips and enjoyed having yearly Christmas parties at his home.
Jacques was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend, and a faithful servant of God. He was a man of firm conviction, great character, wisdom, discipline, and strength. He was an exemplary father and husband—a leader and a steadfast pillar in his church and community.
His beloved wife, Huguette Lorient, went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2019. He deeply adored her, and her passing left a profound void in his heart. Not a day went by without him mentioning her. He missed her dearly.
Huguette and Jacques Lorient have four children and ten grandchildren. He was always loving and immensely proud of his grandchildren. They are Angelina Sherie, Weston, Darian, Jaydon, Donovan, Cameron, Kayla, Justin, Nicholas, and Kimberly. Now, Jacques has gone home to be with the Lord and to see his wife. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to cross his path.
Rest in the arms of the Lord, great man of God. See you in Heaven.
