We are here to celebrate his life. Jim was a loving man with a giving heart who loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was gregarious with a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and laugh. Dad had the gift of evangelism. He liked to share his faith and had a heart for the unsaved. Two of his favorite verses were Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (he put this verse on his business cards) and Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” (which he had each of his kids memorize when little). His faith strengthened and guided him throughout his life.
Jim always had a great work ethic starting in high school working as a newspaper carrier for Waycross Journal Herald. Winning awards and prizes and even a week trip to Miami Florida. Jim attended Auburn University and then Georgia Tech and graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park Florida. He was employed by Johns-Manville until 1978 when he decided to start his own home building business, The Master’s Construction Company. He and his son Cliff were business partners for many years. Jim enjoyed being an entrepreneur.
He will be deeply missed by all his loved ones, and we will remember his smile/grin that could light up a room. May Jim’s memory be a blessing to all who knew him. Jim is now at peace with his Heavenly Father.
Jim was preceded by his parents, James Albert Kennedy, Sr. and Eda D. Kennedy and his son, James Albert Kennedy, III (Ken).
Leaving behind his loving sister, Carolyn Kennedy Arbuckle; The Kennedy family; his sons, Cliff (Laura) and Mike; his favorite daughter, Sonya and the mother of the children, Barbara. He is also survived by his grandchildren, James Albert Kennedy IV (Jake), Josh, Britt and Daniel; and his great-grandchildren, Wilson, Shepherd and Lillianna Mae.
A special acknowledgment to his loving caregivers, Eunice and George Joshua, and their daughter Chloe, who have become part of our family. Jim is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends who brought joy to his life.
