James Scott Sibold of Dunwoody, Georgia, passed away at the age of 57 surrounded by his loving family on July 14, 2013. James (Jamie) was born in San Mateo, California to Rosemary and Robert Sibold being the youngest of three children. He attended Hillsdale High School where he excelled in athletics as a football player and a wrestler. He began his college career with a degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and later graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law with honors in 1982.
After law school, James ran a successful law practice in Dunwoody for 28 years which specialized in real estate closings. He served on Worldwide ERC advising committees guiding national closing practices and winning their Distinguished Service Award. He was always interested in politics rising to the Chairman of the DeKalb Republican Party, working on numerous local and national political campaigns, and running for office himself. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Republican Party as well as a parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church. James cared deeply about education authoring the charter for a local elementary school and improving school busing policies. He loved his Georgia Bulldogs and cheered them on at every opportunity. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 30 years, Karen and two college-age daughters, Marybeth and Natalie. He is also survived by his brother, Robin Sibold, his sister, Pamela Horn, and his mother-in-law, Jean Kammerer.
Jamie devoted his time and energy to the betterment of his family. He was known for his wit and well as business acumen. Jamie loved politics, debating ideas and held a life-long belief in the importance of public service. He also enjoyed music and travel with his family as well as playing with his beloved Doberman pinschers.
James fought a long and heroic fight against brain cancer, but he always maintained his sense of humor and courageous spirit! He leaves a legacy of calling people to God by being a loving husband, a caring father, and a hard-working entrepreneur as well as a serving his community. His strength and smile will be missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Roswell Funeral Home on Thursday, July 18th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:30 am at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, GA followed by a private committal at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA.
