Janice Jean Coen

Mrs. Janice Jean Coen, age 82 of Roswell passed away on February 25, 2014. Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J. Janice was the child of Pearl and William Fredericks. Janice graduated from Snyder High School in Jersey City and married her high school sweetheart John P. Coen Jr. in 1952. Janice and John were stationed on Travis Air Force Base in California as John finished his Air Force service during the Korean War. Janice and John moved back to Jersey City before settling in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1968, her husband John was transferred to Atlanta as the Southeast Manager with the International Nickel Company (INCO). For the next 46 years, Janice loved living in the "City of Roswell" and always took credit for the family move to the then small city of Roswell.

Janice continued her chosen career and passion of being a Wife and Mother raising four children, John, Timothy, Cathleen and Chris. Janice was extremely supportive of her husband and the kids and their efforts in school, sports, church and life. Janice was actively involved for years with the League of Women Voters and upon her children's completion of high school became a Real Estate Broker for Coldwell Banker. Janice loved to paint and talked often of her fond memories growing up on the "Jersey Shore." Later Janice enjoyed many days at the family beach home on Amelia Island, Florida with her friends and family.

Janice is preceded in death by her loving husband John P. Coen Jr., infant son Robert Coen and her sister Pat Fredericks Dunn. Janice is survived by four children and their spouses: Julie and Chris Coen, Cathleen and Michael Messina, Sue and Timothy Coen, Lisa and John P. Coen III. Janice is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Connor and Camryn Coen, Maeghan and Brendan Messina and his spouse Lindsey, Shannon and John P. Coen IV, Scott and Skye Jackson and Sommer Coen.

In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the John P. Coen Jr. Memorial Scholarship, c/o Roswell High School, 11595 King Road, Roswell, Ga. 30075. A Graveside service will be held.
