

Joan was born on September 6, 1931 in Washington, Pennsylvania. She earned a master’s degree in education from Columbia University and taught before marrying.
Joan and her husband to be, Jim, met at Red Bank Presbyterian Church and were married there in 1957.
Their children Jan and Jim Jr were born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1958 and 1961, and the family began a life of transfers as Jim worked for Burroughs and Unisys for 33 years in many different positions across the company. Joan and Jim retired back in Atlanta and a spent many happy years commuting between Pine Island Florida, Lake Lanier and their main home in Dunwoody. They then settled at St George Village in Roswell.
Joan was active in her community throughout her life. She was involved in the women’s club and theater productions, and was a passionate bridge player and golfer.
Joan was preceded in death by her daughter Jan and her husband Jim. She is survived by her son Jim, granddaughters Jill, Rebecca, Emily, and Megan, and her great grandson Karl.
