Mrs. Joan “Joanie” Katherine Smith, age 75, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020. Joanie was born on October 14, 1944, in Springfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Walter and Adeline Jablonski.
Joanie attended South Hadley High School and graduated with honors from Westfield State College in Westfield Massachusetts with a major in Education. She was an outstanding math teacher and she made an impact on the lives of several of her students.
Joanie met the love of her life, Bill, and they were married in holy matrimony. This marriage was blessed with two loving sons, Jeffrey and Gregory. Bill and Joanie loved each other and they shared in many precious moments and adventures together.
Always the teacher, Joanie knew how to use resources to help others’ succeed. She was a dedicated worker for Hallmark and Dixie Clean Air up until her retirement. She led by example and was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church during her 45 years of residency in Roswell, Georgia.
Joanie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her life and influence will be cherished in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Joanie is survived by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Allen Smith; loving sons, Jeffrey Smith (wife Monica), of Johns Creek, Georgia, Gregory Smith (wife Angela), of Douglasville, Georgia; grandchildren, Tegan Claire Smith, of Johns Creek, Georgia, Ewan R. Smith, of Johns Creek, Georgia, and a host of relatives and friends.
