John Winn McEnery, Jr, J.D. was called home on January 7, 2021 at the age of 62. John was born on August 14, 1958 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and growing up as the son of an army officer, lived his life throughout the US and overseas. John graduated with a degree in psychology from North Georgia College in 1983 and married his college sweetheart, Sandi. Later, he earned his law degree and worked for the Ken Nugent law firm in customer service for more than 20 years. John was also a devoted and loving father and grandfather and is survived by his son, Matt McEnery, daughter, Katie McEnery O’Rielly and granddaughter Harper McEnery. His first grandson, John W. John was a devout follower of Christ and throughout his life, showed love for others and was willing to go out of his way to help anyone, even strangers. His heart was always in the right place, and he impacted countless people with his selfless actions and encouraging attitude. Despite being afflicted with end-stage renal failure for many years, John never complained, lived life the fullest and was an optimistic example of how to overcome adversity.

A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 4:00 pm on January 24, 2021 at Elm Street Theatre: 8534 Main Street, Woodstock GA.

Sandi and Family

We grieve with you all and want to say how encouraging John has been in my life through Stephen Ministry and at Fellowship Bible Church. Johns faith and zest for life ALWAYS encouraged me in my walk. Love his relationship with his dad. Mark and I were helped a lot by John when Marks mom started dialysis. Mark says last time he saw John was driving one of FBCs small buses. We are not able to be at service today. May God comfort you. Dana and Mark Schlup

John’s friendship has been such a gift to our family. He lived focused on encouraging others with the encouragement he gained from his relationship with Christ. Always a ready smile; never complaining, but looking for ways to help others. He is greatly missed; yet we are thankful God shared his friendship with us.

Dear Sandi; You and John have always been a bright spot in my life. I've never known anyone who has gone through as much pain, hardship and adversity as you and John and handled it with such grace, and caring for others. Thank you for allowing me to be with you during some of your darkest days in the hospital. John has been an amazing example to me of a man who loved God and lived accordingly. Thank you.

John was a beautiful example of seeing the best in people and in circumstances. He was one of the most encouraging people I've known - always had an encouraging word. He never complained. He was a great example of living his beliefs. I loved the years of working alongside him in Stephen Ministry. We'll miss you, John.

Sandy,
Jill and I send our condolences to you and your family. We loved John. He and I could disagree about something and still be good friends, which is unfortunately rare these days. He was the bravest person I know and only Dovetta could match him in his positivity. As someone once said, life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. The way John lived his life is a true example to everyone who had the pleasure to know him. He will be missed.

During the time John worked at the Atlanta office of Kenneth S. Nugent, PC, we had many conversations: psychological, political, and just sharing the exploits of our children as they grew up. It was clear he loved his family a great deal, and was proud of Matt and Katie. His patience in dealing with client issues was legendary, and consistent with his positive, good-natured personality. John was more than a colleague - he was a friend. I will miss him very much.
