

Born on October 4, 1937, in Mobile, Alabama, Leslie was the daughter of Joseph Emile and Lola Risinger Herpin. Throughout her childhood, she lived in several places including Wilmington Island, Decatur, Georgia and Miami, where she graduated from Coral Gables High School.
Leslie continued her education at the University of Alabama and the University of Florida. While working as a reservationist for Delta Air Lines, she traveled to Atlanta, where she met the love of her life, Sidney Smith. The two were married just six months later and shared 64 devoted and joy-filled years together.
Leslie was known for her exceptional cooking, her gift for hosting unforgettable gatherings, and her deep love of travel. She and Sid explored many beautiful destinations over the years, creating cherished memories wherever they went. Her home was always warm and welcoming, filled with laughter, delicious meals, and friends who felt like family.
Leslie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Sidney, her daughters, Shannon Kreger (Jay) and Robin Winningham (Thomas); and her treasured grandchildren, Lauren and Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Emile Herpin, Jr., and is survived by her sister, Jody Herpin Boggioni.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Roswell, Georgia with a private graveside to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cherokee Country Club from 3:00 -5:00 PM located at 665 Hightower Trail, Atlanta, GA 30350 following the Mass.
In honor of Leslie, guests are welcome to wear color in celebration of her vibrant spirit, though it is entirely optional.
