

Her life began with her family of eleven (11) brothers and sisters where she lived on a farm in Newnan Georgia.
Early in her life she came to know Christ as her Lord and Savior and enjoyed helping others through her gift of hospitality. In 1939 Lodie was united in holy matrimony to John L. Cook. From that union, five (5) children were born: Ola (Godfrey), John Cook Jr., Thomas (Patty) Laura (Jimmy) and Dwight (Natalie). After a tour of duty in the U. S. Navy by her husband, Lodie and John moved to Roswell, Georgia where they established a home and both joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Lodie worshiped and served in Zion until her health began to decline. Lodie was a loving mother, she had creative hands, and she could make a great meal out of almost anything. A willing worker, a loving woman but one that would tell you off when needed. She was trained and performed dialysis on her husband John for the last 17 year of their marriage. She leaves a legacy by the way she lived her life, a legacy that says, “You learn to do what must be done”.
Lodie is survived by 1 brother from 11 siblings; Thomas Martin. Five children Ola (Godfrey), John Jr,Thomas (Patty), Laura (Jimmy), and Dwight (Natalie). 9 grandchildren and 11 great grand children, Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and people she helped raise by feeding them and showing them love from her home. She spent her last years at Roswell nursing home before departing this life.
