Luis Alberto Perales, 90, passed away on September 6, 2024. He was born on July 21, 1934, in Lima, Peru, to the late Eloisa and Raul Perales. His career as an agronomist and entomologist took him across the Americas, eventually bringing him along with his family to Georgia in 1977.
Alberto was an avid photographer, well known (especially in his community, The Orchards) for his talent in capturing moments and creating PowerPoint presentations that highlighted his work. He had a wide array of interests, including travel, museums, art, music—having played the violin —and genealogy, culminating in a book tracing the Perales family lineage back to the 1300s.
A sociable man with a wide circle of friends, Alberto was also a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Carmen M. Perales, his sons Jorge (Marie), Ralph (Julia), and Miguel (Darlene), grandchildren Julianna, Aimee, Brandon, Chase, Austin, Mitchell, and James, and great-grandchildren Charlotte, Audrey, and Jackson. Alberto was one of seven siblings. Brother and sister, Rodolfo and Gloria, survive him.
A memorial service will be held on September 21, 2024, at 2 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org or Canine Assistants, www.canineassistants.org
