

M. Carolyn Cass, 95, of Roswell, GA, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 30, 2015. She was born on May 28, 1920, in Hapeville, Ga., to Barney Edward Cass and Erma Lee Smith Cass. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and a second cousin, Betty Raffield, of Murfreesboro, TN. She is survived by a cousin, Dennis Raffield (Ginger) of Murfreesboro, TN. Ms. Cass attended Hapeville Grammar School, Russell High School, and the Atlanta Extension of the University of Georgia. Her first job was with the Atlanta Gas Light Co. She then worked for the IRS for 35 years before retiring in 1977. Carolyn was a lifelong Methodist, having served as the Choir Director at Mary Brannen UMC during the 1950’s. Upon moving to Roswell in 1978, she joined the Roswell United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the Sanctuary Choir for many years. She was the Choir President for several years and served on numerous committees through the years. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5p-7p at the Roswell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of the Roswell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Malone Dodson and the Rev. Dr. Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mary W. Long Endowment Fund at Roswell UMC, 814 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell, GA 30075.
